'Independent Women' take on the Corporate Challenge |

Eight women one challenge!
Independent women are proud to be the first all women team ever to enter the Reading Corporate Eights Rowing challenge, which was held on Saturday 1st September 2007, where we came Third!!!!
Join us in our journey of self discovery, team building, physical pain and some celebratory champagne as we rowed to victory!
A few months ago Karen Margerison the Squad Captain put it to a group of local businesswomen at a She plc networking lunch, “were we up for a challenge?” The ordeal in question was rowing, and taking part in the Corporate Eights Challenge, and here we are today.

Training started on Thursday 5th July with an introduction to the ‘Ergos’ (rowing machines) something that we soon realised would become our new best friends for the months ahead. Last Wednesday the 8th August at 5.30am, we took to the water for the first time. Competition rules are that all teams can only train on the water for 10 hours!
The Regatta Corporate Eights Challenge is open to the public and is proposed to start from 11am with a bar, BBQ and entertainment so everyone’s support is welcome to cheer us on. |
